Common Pests in South Tempe

Tempe's desert climate and proximity to undeveloped land creates year-round pest pressure for South Tempe residents. Bark scorpions are the primary concern — they're venomous and common throughout Pinal and Maricopa counties. Regular professional treatment is the most reliable way to keep your home protected.

Local Pest Facts

• South Tempe's larger lots and mature landscaping provide more harborage and entry points for bark scorpions than denser northern Tempe neighborhoods — professional exterior barrier treatments are especially important here.
• Roof rats are common in South Tempe due to the area's mature citrus and palm trees, which provide both food sources and elevated travel routes between properties and rooftops.
• South Tempe borders Chandler and Gilbert, two of the Phoenix metro's higher-pressure scorpion areas — pests migrate freely across these city boundaries, making consistent treatment essential.
