Common Pests in Mesa Highlands

Mesa's desert climate and proximity to undeveloped land creates year-round pest pressure for Mesa Highlands residents. Bark scorpions are the primary concern — they're venomous and common throughout Pinal and Maricopa counties. Regular professional treatment is the most reliable way to keep your home protected.

Local Pest Facts

• Mesa Highlands' central-east Mesa location means it experiences pest pressure from multiple directions — bark scorpions migrate from desert terrain to the east while roof rats use the community's mature trees as travel corridors.
• The community's established landscaping with mature trees, rock borders, and dense plantings provides ideal harborage for bark scorpions and black widows, which hide under rocks and in plant debris.
• Mesa Highlands' older construction (many homes built in the 1980s–1990s) means more potential entry points for cockroaches and bark scorpions compared to newer East Valley communities.
