Common Pests in Layton Lakes

Gilbert's desert climate and proximity to undeveloped land creates year-round pest pressure for Layton Lakes residents. Bark scorpions are the primary concern — they're venomous and common throughout Pinal and Maricopa counties. Regular professional treatment is the most reliable way to keep your home protected.

Local Pest Facts

• Layton Lakes' private lakes and extensive water features create ideal mosquito breeding habitat — standing water in lake edges, decorative ponds, and irrigation systems supports mosquito populations throughout the warm season.
• The community's mature trees and lakefront landscaping provide excellent roof rat habitat, with rats using tree canopies as travel corridors between properties and the lake edge as a food and water source.
• Layton Lakes' northwest Gilbert location near the Chandler border means it experiences pest pressure from both cities — bark scorpions and other pests migrate freely across city boundaries in the Phoenix metro.
